New Programmes for 2009

At NCC Education, we are constantly developing new programmes to complement our existing portfolio, ensuring that the standard of education we deliver is the highest available. The addition of two new business programmes means that we can now offer clear pathways through both Business and IT routes, from foundation to master’s level.


International Certificate in Business (ICB)

The ICB has been developed as an access programme for students wanting to progress onto NCC Education’s International Diploma in Business. The programme is designed to give students a strong grounding in business and to provide them with the necessary tools to progress their studies.

Programme Overview

  • Will provide students with a solid grounding in business and prepare them for further study.
  • Is studied on a full-time basis over a full semester (12 teaching weeks), but may also be studied on a part-time basis.
  • Comprised of five compulsory modules.
  • Assessed by assignments and examinations.

Entry Requirements

  • Be able to demonstrate that they have previously studied in English at secondary school level, OR;
  • Have a score of 5.5 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination or equivalent.

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PgD BM)

The development of the PgD BM was in response to a growing need for NCC Education to have a business programme for students who want the opportunity to progress to an MBA. The programme is designed for graduates or experienced managers who wish to further develop their career in management, and covers a wide range of contemporary issues needed by senior management staff.

Programme Overview

  • Develops the academic skills required for further study at master’s level.
  • One year programme delivered full-time or two year programme delivered part-time.
  • Comprised of eight compulsory modules.
  • The majority* of the modules are assessed by 70% assignment and 30% examination.

*Research Methods (100% project proposal) and Study Skills (100% assignment)

Entry Requirements

  • An honours degree from a UK university (minimum 2:2) in any subject, or equivalent award from a non-UK university, OR;
  • Three years’ work experience at managerial level with significant responsibility for resources (staff, financial, physical etc, or a combination of these). Prospective students must be able to demonstrate that these responsibilities were significant and that they had a high level of autonomy. A decision on entry to the programme via a work experience route will be made by NCC Education.

If the student does not have an undergraduate degree that was wholly taught and examined in English, he/she will need to have English proficiency to IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 6.5 or equivalent.

Updated Programmes for 2009

At NCC Education, we are committed to ensuring that all our programmes are relevant, up-to-date and academically rigorous in the face of an extremely competitive market. Developments to three of our most popular programmes; International Foundation Year, International Certificate in Computer Studies and Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business IT, ensure that students continue to receive the quality of education that has become synonymous with the NCC Education brand.


International Foundation Year (IFY)

The IFY programme is delivered over one-year, for speakers of a foreign language who are seeking entrance to a university Bachelor’s Degree programme, or the NCC Education International Diplomas in Business or Computer Studies.

Key features of the updated IFY include:

  • A fully updated curriculum with a brand new choice of modules.
  • Increased choice – students can specialise in Computing or Business or take a more general approach to their studies.
  • Study skills has become a double (20 credit) module giving fuller coverage of this important area.
  • Introduction of a credit based system offering a more structured approach and a clearer weighting of modules.

International Certificate in Computer Studies (ICCS)

The ICCS programme is an introduction to computing, with a practical approach to basic computer principles and competence. The qualification equips students with the necessary skills for entry to NCC Education’s International Diploma in Computer studies.

Key features of the updated ICCS include:

  • A fully updated syllabus with the introduction of brand new modules.
  • The introduction of a Study Skills module to equip students with the essential skills needed to succeed at university.
  • Fuller coverage of programming.
  • Assessment vehicles will include both examinations and assignments.

Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business IT (PgD SBIT)

The field of Business IT is constantly evolving, with new concepts and technologies being discovered everyday. Keeping pace with this fast moving area of study, NCC Education have developed the PgD SBIT programme to incorporate two main features that will benefit students in their studies.

Key features of the updated PgD SBIT include:

  • Introduction of the Enterprise Software & Business Infrastructure module.
  • Enhanced foundation in research skills; this will aid students in their application onto an MSc.

The entry requirements for this programme have also been updated, allowing applicants with certain levels of vocational experience to apply.
