Peter Ford (MA, DIC, C.Eng, FBCS, CITP) Chairman of the Academic Board

Peter is a Director of NCC Education and as Chairman of the Academic Board, he oversees the award of all NCC Education qualifications. Although NCC Education is now an independent company, it was formerly a Division of the National Computing Centre of which Peter is also Chairman. The National Computing Centre was set up by the UK government in 1966 to promote the use of IT in government, industry and commerce.
Peter has vast academic experience and is currently Emeritus Professor at the University of Nottingham. During his time at Nottingham Peter has also been Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Head of Department at the School of Computer Science and IT and Chair of Universitas 21, an international network of leading research-intensive universities.

Bob Wood

Bob is currently Head of the School of Informatics at the recently merged University of Manchester as well as a member of the NCC Education Academic Board.
He worked for a number of years in the engineering sector before leaving to undertake postgraduate research. After which he held several lecturing positions within universities before joining the University of Salford in 1992, and was awarded a Chair in Information Systems in 1996.
Prior to joining UMIST, Bob had been the GEMISIS Professor of Information Systems at the University of Salford, where he had also held the position of Associate Dean for Research within the Faculty of Business and Informatics.
Together with colleagues within the Information Systems Institute, he led the Information Systems research group to a 5*/6* ranking at the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, making them the highest ranked group within the Library and Information Management panel.

After a career in banking working with two of the UK’s leading banking institutes, Brian started his academic career teaching on University of London programmes before moving to the University of Central England (UCE) Birmingham where he now holds the positions of Professor of Banking Education & Associate Dean (Academic Planning and Development).
Part of Brian’s role at UCE includes seats on numerous academic committees including Senate, Working Group on Quality Assurance and Collaborative Partnerships Committee. Through these committees Brian has had extensive experience in validations both in the UK and overseas, notably in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and China.
Experience of the corporate world has also been gained through extensive involvement with banking education, consultancy work for Lloyds TSB, Nationwide Building Society and HSBC as well as various roles for the Association of Banking teachers, including National Chairman 1990-1992.
Since 2000/01, Brian has played an increasing role in his work for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education in the UK (QAA). This covers activities such as QAA Degree Awarding Powers Reviewer and QAA Collaborative Provision Auditor.
