e-Books - A Success Story

In January this year Manchester based NCC Education took the bold move to provide its Accredited Partner education centres with student books and tutor support materials in electronic format rather than as hard copies. Just three months later the organisation is hailing the change as a great step forward.
The initiative has been successful. Accredited Partners now have permanent access to books and tutor support materials in a format and in quantities which suit them. This has enabled Accredited Partners to reduce costs and provide a faster and higher quality service to their students.
Accredited Partners no longer have to order books and tutor materials from the UK, pay the associated freight charges or await order fulfilment. This is particularly important to NCC Education's Accredited Partners as they are spread over 45 countries. They are now able to provide students with their books as soon as they commence their studies and to access additional books quickly and cheaply.
This is just the latest in a series of technology aided service improvement initiatives undertaken by NCC Education.
NCC Education’s Head of e-Business, Graham Yule stated: “We pride ourselves on our commitment to providing quality products and services and recognise that one of the most effective ways of achieving this is to embrace technology.”
David Pottinger, NCC Education’s Managing Director, is behind the company’s commitment to employing technology. He commented: “We will continue to seek ways in which we can further improve our products and services by harnessing technology – this is all part of our drive to become an e-centric organisation”
This drive to achieve service improvements through technology is set to continue. Indeed NCC Education will be launching its Virtual Campus at WEM in Lisbon, on May 23rd . Details have not yet been released but the NCC Education team is promising that the Virtual Campus will deliver benefits to everyone involved in IT education.
